About The Artist
Working from his studio and en plein air, Mitch Cihomsky does freelance, gallery, and commission paintings. His painting San Francisco Icon was chosen for the 2020 de Young Open Exhibition and appeared on the cover of The de Young Museum Quarterly Journal. Mitch earned an MFA in Painting from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. He is a member of the California Watercolor Association and the Laguna Plein Air Painters Association.
Artist's Statement
The intent of a painting is to elicit an emotional response from the viewer. As a painter, I tend less to the strictly emotional view and attempt to find an analytical and critical view to commit to canvas. From this “analysis of form”, a painting can be created that is satisfying to the eye of the viewer.
