The wall is an architectural element loaded with metaphorical implications. I made this photo during a trip to Mexico as sentiments about migration and border security divide the country. Yet the wall, no matter how high or solid, is no match to the human spirit.

About The Artist
Visual artist Pablo Tapay Bautista works in photography, film/video, painting, and printmaking. Born in the Philippines, he immigrated to San Francisco in 1975. Pablo has a BA in Industrial Design from SFSU and an MFA in Film from Columbia University. He has participated in a number of group shows including SFMOMA Artist Gallery and most recently, at the de Young Museum in San Francisco. Pablo currently resides in Oakland, CA.
Artist's Statement
As a street photographer, I see beauty in the mundane and in the unexpected. The camera opens my eyes to the power of photography: making photographs connects me to people and to the world around me. My goal as a photographer is to share stories of the human condition to a larger audience
