Artist's Statement
An abstract piece that 'deconstructs' the structure of a house, to speak about, how the structure does not make a home, the inhabitants who live inside do. The work is an exploration of color, mood, and ideas, that I have been thinking about regarding what constitutes a home. The idea was sparked when I was on walk in my neighborhood and noticed empty homes, dark, lifeless, and just down the way were homeless encampments. This jarring juxtaposition really haunted me, and I felt the need to create a piece that reflected this sad state.
