“SUNSET ON THE CHURCH” was done on Winsor & Newton’s 140 lb cold press paper. The goal of the painting was to express the shadow effect casted by the sunset. The entire painting was completed with two washes plus limited brush work on the structures of the building. The complicated church structures were simplified significantly to avoid indication of the details.

About The Artist
Qian Gao lives in Concord, CA and is a self-taught watercolor painter since 1998. He has a Ph.D degree in Microbiology and works in a biotech company in the Bay Area. His watercolor painting is majorly influenced by Edward Seago, John Yardley and Trevor Chamberlain. His painting subjects include landscape, and city/town views with people involved. Qian’s paintings have selected into many national and international art shows.
