Abandoned Pier
This image was taken out at Heron's Head Park a few years back. This old wooden structure from the days of "Pier 98" is now completely submerged. The afternoon light cast a dramatic reflection off the old pilings into the bay and gave it an almost "yawning" effect.

Artist's Statement
One of the recurring themes in my work is my attraction to structures and objects that are crumbling, decaying and just plain falling apart. Maybe its because I’m in my seventies myself that I appreciate their history, their perseverance in existing—and the beauty that arises from the scars and imperfections of that struggle. Thanks for viewing my image: “Abandoned Pier”.
