Horse Barn
The Horse Barn painting is gouache, acrylic ink and ink pen on canvas. It is from an historical farm on Camano Island in Washington state. It is a marriage of structure and landscape through planer-line, color and composition. The old building melts into the landscape almost as a natural feature, and rich color imbues an almost featureless foreground field.

About The Artist
I am a retired architect after 50 years of private practice in the Bay Area. As a young student I painted watercolors in my teens. I took up painting again about five years ago in the mediums of watercolor and pastel. I switched to mixed media gouache, acrylic ink and ink pen to find more freedom of expression; and moved from realism to semi-abstraction. The medium doesn’t really matter. I am still learning how to paint.
