Intersections
Working with a t-square and oil bars mixed directly on the canvas, I use scaffolding as a device to explore the push and pull of abstract geometric forms in space. Using perspective, bold design and saturated color, I love how the same planks and poles, coarsely assembled into different configurations, allow me to work with structure, design and point of view.

About The Artist
Stela Mandel is a Marin painter working in the Industrial Center Building in Sausalito. Originally from New York City, Stela was fortunate to begin her art training at an early age, studying with professional artists Max Ginsburg and Alvin Hollingsworth. After studying fine arts in college Stela attended UCSF where she got her Masters degree in Medical Illustration and enjoyed the interplay of two careers, medical illustration and fine art.
